Guided tour of the exhibition "Anselm Kiefer: These writings, when burned, will finally cast a little light”

The large scale paintings on view in the Chamber of the Scrutinio in the Doge’s Palace are the result of a site specific commission.
Painted in 2020-22, the works dialogue with the 33 monumental canvases by the painter and cartographer Cristoforo Sorte which adorn the ceiling.
Kiefer focuses on Venice as a place of exchange between Eastern and Western cultures and creates a new epic, as somber as the times we live in.
