An online course that, through the Peggy Guggenheim Collection, explores the major transformations of twentieth-century art, focusing on abstraction and Surrealism as the two key guiding poles for understanding international modernism.

As Peggy Guggenheim recalls in her autobiography, in 1959 she purchased what she described as “twelve fantastic artifacts” from Africa, Oceania, and the Americas from the New York dealer Julius Carlebach, a collection she expanded throughout the 1960s.

On the occasion of the centenary of the French journal Cahiers d’Art, founded in 1926 by art historian Christian Zervos, the Peggy Guggenheim Collection presents a special installation dedicated to the renowned publication in the galleries of the permanent collection.

On Thursdays, from 2 to 6 pm, the museum grants free admission to residents of the City of Venice and those born in Venice, as well as to students at Venetian universities.

“I Want to Be Free” is a podcast created by Chora Media and the Peggy Guggenheim Collection that tells the life story of the U.S. collector and her unconditional love of art.
