Ambra D’Antone, Curatorial Assistant, Peggy Guggenheim Collection, guides members on a tour of two exhibitions in the Dorsoduro neighborhood of Venice.

The tour starts with the exhibition dedicated to Jean Cocteau at the Peggy Guggenheim Collection, which highlights the artist’s versatility through a surprising variety of works, including drawings, graphics, jewelry, tapestries, historical documents, books, magazines, photographs, documentaries, and films.
Following a complimentary breakfast in the Museum Café, the tour continues at the Gallerie dell’Accademia, where the exhibition dedicated to Willem de Kooning explores the impact of two trips to Italy, in 1959 and 1969, on his artistic production. The exhibition features over seventy-five works, including paintings, drawings, and sculptures, created between the 1950s and the 1980s. The highlight of the exhibition is a series of large drawings created in Afro Basaldella’s Rome studio, titled Black and White Rome (1959), and 13 small material bronzes.
