Guided tour of the Venice Art Biennale 2024: "Foreigners Everywhere," with Alessandra Montalbetti

Art historian Alessandra Montalbetti, who collaborates with the Peggy Guggenheim Collection since 2012, guides members on a tour of the Venice Giardini and the Arsenale, exploring the Foreigners Everywhere exhibition curated by Andriano Pedrosa.

The exhibition is divided into a contemporary and a historical section.
The first explores different understandings of the term “foreigner,” and topics related to notions of the queer, the outsider, the folk, and the indigenous artist.
The second features a selection of twentieth-century artworks from Latin America, Africa, Asia, and the Arab World.
The exhibition focuses especially on the Global South by awarding a privileged role to artists from the Southern Hemisphere. Both sections of the exhibition pay specific attention to representations of the human form, personal identity crises, and the relationships between individuals and collectivities.
