The more I work, the more I see differently. The more I attempt to create, the more I see that it is impossible.
The second event of the lecture series Inside Form: Hepworth, Giacometti, Calder: The Writings and Thoughts of Three Twentieth-Century Sculptors sees Giovanna Brambilla explore the deep and unsettling connection between the penetrating human frailty portrayed in Alberto Giacometti’s filiform sculptures and his profound existential reflections.
Giacometti's poetic creativity, his relentless desire to capture the fleeting essence of the human figure in all its vulnerability, is echoed in his writings, which convey a sense of precariousness and reveal a tormented, yet profoundly human, artistic universe in a perennial state of tension between painful absence and ephemeral presence.
