Palazzo Labia is Baroque palazzo built for the Catalan Labia family in Cannaregio between the seventeenth and eighth centuries. It is currently the regional headquarters of Rai.
The heart of the palazzo is the grand ballroom, designed by Giorgio Massari and decorated with a fresco cycle by Giambattista Tiepolo. The frescoes are some of the finest produced by the Venetian painter and depict scenes from the story of Anthony and Cleopatra. Populated by elegantly dressed characters striking theatrical poses, these are brilliantly complimented by architectural elements in trompe-l'œil designed by Gerolamo Mingozzi-Colonna.
The tour grants exclusive access to the ballroom and other rooms of the palazzo, which feature splendid paintings by Palma il Giovane, Giambattista Canal, Placido Costanzi, Agostino Masucci, and many other eighteenth-century painters.
