Peggy Guggenheim's Birthday Concert
Peggy Guggenheim's Birthday Concert

The members-only concert on August 26 celebrating Peggy Guggenheim’s birthday features Quatuor Tchalik, who will perform two string quartets by Gabriel Fauré and Camille Saint-Saëns, composed during the 1920s.

Paris-based Quatuor Tchalik features a unique lineup of four siblings. Brought up in a Russian-French family in which music played a special role, they have been making music together since their earliest childhood. This intimate and precocious experience of chamber music has allowed the four young musicians to develop a unique and entirely natural approach to expressive and versatile quartet playing, establishing an extraordinary artistic connection between each other.
Quatuor Tchalik regularly performs at festivals such as the Radio France Occitanie Festival in Montpellier, the Chopin Festival in Nohant, the Flâneries Musicales de Reims, and the Rheingau Festival in Germany. The ensemble has also been invited to perform at world-renowned concert halls including the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, the Mozarteum in Salzburg, and the Philharmonie in Cologne and Dresden. Quatuor Tchalik plays string instruments specially crafted for them by luthier Philippe Mitéran and architect Konstantin Cheptitski, which further enhances the extraordinary chemistry within the ensemble.
The concert is made possible by the collaboration with Palazzetto Bru Zane – Centre de musique romantique française, a Venice-based institution that promotes the rediscovery of French nineteenth-century musical heritage through concerts, recordings, and the publication of books and sheet music.
