An online art history lecture series

Many contemporary artists, included the most revolutionary, studied or looked at the art before their time. Some of the artists they fell in love with or were inspired by lived centuries ago and used different but equally important media. Some such encounters defy logic, but are accessible because of love: a painting exhibited in a museum, the reproduction of a work of art discovered at a particular moment in life, or fragments from distant cultures one time or the other were able to respond to an artist’s quest.
