Joanna Moorhead only met her cousin, the artist Leonora Carrington, in the final years of the latter’s life, but spent enough time with her to be able to share some unpublished stories about their friendship. During the meeting, Moorhead will recount some of the major events in Carrington’s life, including episodes, ties and connections with the life of Peggy Guggenheim.

Joanna Moorhead is a writer who contributes to a wide range of newspapers and magazines, including The Guardian, The Observer and The Art Newspaper. In 2006 she discovered she was a relative of the Surrealist artist Leonora Carrington. Meeting Carrington in Mexico changed her life and led her to write the artist’s biography, The Surrealist Life of Leonora Carrington (2017).
