Hot Bodies Choir
Hot Bodies Choir

The Hot Bodies Choir project gathers queer, trans, non-binary, and genderfluid participants with the aim of developing new writing and choral singing practices. Participants will exchange experiences and their thoughts on ideas expressed in queer, feminist, sex-positive, and decolonial manifestos to create a series of collectively written revolutionary texts.
These unique, polyphonic, and unruly texts will constitute the basis of a choral score, arranged musically by Gérald Kurdian and performed live by all the participants. At the end of the workshop, the group will sing in two performances, guided by Kurdian, taking place on September 15, 2024, at the museum (one in the afternoon and another in the evening).

Hot Bodies Choir is the third project in Kurdian’s research series, Hot Bodies of the Future, which focuses on sexual revolutions.

Gérald Arev Kurdian (they/them) aka Hot Bodies studied visual arts at the École Nationale Supérieure de Paris-Cergy before entering the performance and contemporary dance program Ex.e.r.ce 07_Centre Chorégraphique National in Montpellier, directed by Mathilde Monnier and Xavier Le Roy. Their oblique concerts inspired by the genres of stand-up comedy, live musical, or pop acts are opportunities to invent synergies between electronic music, performance art, and documentary practices. They are regularly presented in the contexts of visual arts (at Centre Pompidou-Metz and Fondation Cartier, Paris), indie music (at the Coopérative de Mai in Clemont-Ferrand, France, and the Centquatre and Nouveau Casino, Paris ), or performing arts (including the Festival d'Automne à Paris, Usine C in Montreal, Crossing the Line in New York, Steirischer Herbst in Graz, Austria, and the Kunstenfestivaldesarts in Brussels). They have also composed radio-pieces with sex workers and music for films and contemporary dance.  Since 2018, they have been developing the performative and musical research project Hot Bodies of the Future, which explores alternative forms of sexualities and queer micro-politics.
