Karole P. B. Vail, Director, Peggy Guggenheim Collection, leads members on a guided tour of the museum’s permanent collection, offering an overview of the key artists represented—from Vasily Kandinsky and Pablo Picasso to Grace Hartigan and Jackson Pollock. The tour also highlights a newly installed room dedicated to the art from Africa in Peggy Guggenheim’s collection, as well as vitrines displaying selected issues of Cahiers d’Art, the influential French journal founded by Christian Zervos. Participants will gain a richer understanding of Peggy Guggenheim’s vision as a collector and the story behind one of the most extraordinary collections of twentieth-century art.
