Guided Tour of the Sculpture Garden with Isabella Boorman

Isabella Boorman, PhD student at the Peggy Guggenheim Collection, leads visitors on a tour exploring the works in the museum’s Sculpture Garden, with a particular focus on works in bronze.

The tour will examine the history of a selection of works by leading artists such as Jean Arp, Alberto Giacometti, and Arnaldo Pomodoro, as well as their connection with Peggy Guggenheim. Drawing on her doctoral research, Isabella Boorman will explore themes related to both conservation and art history, comparing the original intentions of the artists with the current condition of the sculptures, which have been displayed outdoors in the museum’s garden since the 1940s. The talk will also offer a broader reflection on the care and conservation of sculptures located in green spaces, with the aim ensuring their preservation for future generations.

Isabella Boorman is British art historian and artist who lives in Venice, currently studying her PhD for the Peggy Guggenheim Collection and La Sapienza University of Rome. She specialized in twentieth-century art history at The Courtauld Institute of Art and has worked in curating and exhibitions for museums such as the Royal Academy of Arts, London.
