A guided tour of the Pinault Collection at Palazzo Grassi and Punta della Dogana provides an opportunity to explore and gain deeper insight into the exhibitions Amar Kanwar and Michael Armitage at Palazzo Grassi, and Paulo Nazareth and Lorna Simpson at Punta della Dogana.
The tour generates a dialogue between artistic practices that differ in terms of language and context, but that share a strong engagement with themes of memory, identity, history, and the social and political dynamics of the present.
Through video, painting, photography, and installation, the exhibitions present a multifaceted perspective on the relationship between the individual and the collective, personal experience and historical dimension, inspiring reflection on the role of art as a means of storytelling, testimony, and critical reinterpretation of contemporary reality.
