The Biblioteca Marciana is a Venetian architectural and cultural jewel located in the iconic St. Mark’s Square.
Built in the seventeenth century, it houses a vast collection of ancient books, precious manuscripts, and works of art. Its monumental halls, adorned with frescoed and rich decorations, offer a unique and evocative atmosphere. During the visit, a Marciana librarian will guide participants through the Monumental Gallery and the Ridotti dei Procuratori, illustrating the library’s history and its rich literary and documentary heritage, including the cartographic material displayed in its museum, such as the extraordinary map created by Fra’ Mauro in 1450.
