Guided Tour of the Exhibition "Monte di Pietà"

Swiss artist Christoph Büchel has completely transformed Ca’ Corner della Reggina through his exhibition, Monte di Pietà.

The project consists of a recreation of a bankrupt pawnshop based on the original layout of the Monte di Pietà of Venice, whose headquarters were in the palazzo until 1969. The immersive installation is a deep dive into the notion of debt as the root of human society and the primary vehicle by which political and cultural power is exercised. The exhibition is permeated with references to Venetian history and the harsh and ruthless system of assigning symbolic and economic value to works of art.
