Guided Tour of the Exhibition “Jenny Saville” at Ca’ Pesaro

Christine Knapp guides members on a tour exploring the large-scale exhibition that Ca’ Pesaro – International Museum of Modern Art has dedicated to Jenny Saville, a leading figure of contemporary figurative painting.

A major show with an international scope, on view during the Art Biennale, this is the first large-scale exhibition dedicated to the British artist in Venice. The works on view span her entire career, from the 1990s to the present, highlighting the evolution of her pictorial investigations. Her radical exploration of representations of the body and their social, political, and cultural implications have put figurative painting back to the center of contemporary debates. The rooms of Ca’ Pesaro will host Seville’s monumental canvases, set in dialogue with the Serenissima great artistic tradition, revealing the artist’s deep connection with the masters of the past. The final section of the exhibition displays a series of new works cerated as an homage to Venice, a declaration of love for painting and the city.
