Angelo Orsoni was born in Murano in the mid-nineteenth century and specialized from a young age in the production of crystal, painted glass, and aventurine.
He founded Fornace Orsoni in 1888 and participated in the Paris Exposition Universelle the following year, presenting a panel featuring a sample collection of over one thousand enamel and gold mosaic tiles. It was a turning point for his company, since from that moment the Orsoni name became associated with the creation of large-scale works of art, installed in such places as the École des Beaux-Arts, the Trocadéro, the Hotel de la Ville, the Opéra, and the Sacre Coeur Basilica in Paris, the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Lourdes, and St Paul's Cathedral in London, as well as many others. When Orsoni died in 1921, the already well-established company continued to expand under his son Giovanni. Today it is part of Trend Group. The tour of the Color Library uncovers the story of the Orsoni family, the furnace, and the over 3,500 color tones it preserves, as well as the celebrated multicolored panel that made its founder famous.
