Fluid Correspondences and Hybridizations from Surrealism to the Present

The 59th International Art Exhibition of La Biennale di Venezia 2022 takes its title, The Milk of Dreams, from a book by Leonora Carrington. Carrington's reflections on the metamorphosis of bodies and the definition of human will frame the dialogue between Alemani and Subelytė in order to explore the theme of hybridization, from the Surrealists’ poetics to contemporary artistic processes.

Cecilia Alemani is the Curator of the 59th International Art Exhibition of La Biennale di Venezia 2022. Since 2011, she has been the Director and Curator of High Line Art, the artistic program presented by the High Line, New York. In 2018, she curated the inaugural edition of Art Basel Cities: Buenos Aires, and in 2017 the Italian Pavilion of the Venice Biennale.
