November’s Double Meaning event centers on artist Paul Klee and his interest in abstraction and the simplification of forms.
In Portrait of Frau P. in the South (1924), Klee created a stylized depiction of a human figure through geometric lines and simplified shapes that render a face and a small bust. The artist was more interested in representing an inner, spiritual world, transforming the subject into an ideal landscape loaded with emotional meaning and memories.
Participants will be able to engage in a tactile exploration of the work and join a sculpture workshop led by blind artist Felice Tagliaferri, which will help create a mental image of Klee’s painting.
Double Meaning events are free, but booking is required.
