As part of the accessibility program Double Meaning: Tactile Tours of the Peggy Guggenheim Collection, the museum presents the final event of the workshop series dedicated to sculpture.
May’s event is dedicated to Indian contemporary artist Anish Kapoor, whose works often investigate the dialectic of opposites. The monumental sculpture Unititled (1993) explores the concept of emptiness, made tangible by a cavity sinking into a semi-worked block of sandstone.
During the event, participants will have an opportunity to touch Kapoor’s work and other sculptures in the Schulhof Collection to gain a deeper understanding of the most recent plastic investigations in contemporary art. Blind artist Felice Tagliaferri will then introduce experimental sculptural practices during a workshop designed to help participants form a mental image of Kapoor’s works.
The event is open to everyone, including blind and partially sighted visitors. Participation in Double Meaning is free, but booking is required.
