As part of the accessibility program Double Meaning: Tactile Tours of the Peggy Guggenheim Collection, the museum presents the sixth event of the workshop series dedicated to sculpture.
The event focuses on Jean (Hans) Arp, one of the first artists Peggy Guggenheim collected and the author of Amphora-Fruit (1946). To fully understand the artist’s practice, participants will be able to touch the bronze sculpture and the tactile reproduction of the Arp’s relief Overturned Blue Shoe with Two Heels Under a Black Vault (ca. 1925).
A workshop with blind artist Felice Tagliaferri will also help develop an in-depth understanding of Arp’s practice, characterized by free, spontaneous, and irrational creative processes.
The event is open to everyone, including blind and partially sighted visitors. Participation in Double Meaning is free, but booking is required.
