Binary Optics: Black–White, Appear–Disappear, On–Off, 0–1
Binary Optics: Black–White, Appear–Disappear, On–Off, 0–1

Workshop organized by Giulia Filippi and Virginia di Lazzaro

In the early 1960s, Marina Apollonio joined the Op art movement, driven by a desire to create depersonalized art. Her works are often black and white, opposite colors that she used to create illusionistic effects. Black – white, appear – disappear, on – off, 0 – 1. The juxtaposition of black and white inspires the creation of a binary code that participants will use to formulate a functional sentence and create an optical work of art.
