Artist Studio Visit: Elisabetta Di Maggio
Artist Studio Visit: Elisabetta Di Maggio

The visit to Elisabetta Di Maggio’s studio takes participants to the heart of her work, where delicate execution expresses profound and intense concepts.

Although Di Maggio does not make use of thread, her works evoke the idea of weaving. Indeed, she “entwines” her materials through precise and meticulous incisions. Her work is therefore linked to the art history course Ariadne’s Thread: Weaving Stories in Contemporary Art, held by Alessandra Montalbetti in February, which explored how different twentieth-century artists used thread to express their view of the world in connection to contemporary events. The visit to her studio is an opportunity to hear her discuss her poetics, founded on the investigation of the invisible connections between past and present, nature and cities, individuals and the world. Her works encourage reflections on the fragility and complexity of human experience through forms that intertwine aesthetics and deep meanings.
