Ambra D’Antone, Curatorial Assistant, Peggy Guggenheim Collection, guides members on a tour of the exhibition Maria Helena Vieira da Silva: Anatomy of Space. The exhibition focuses on key works by the artist, exploring the evolution of her abstract forms and optical illusions. Vieira da Silva is linked to Peggy Guggenheim, who included her in the Exhibition by 31 Women, held at the New York museum-gallery Art of This Century in 1943. Her works merge geometric and decorative influences, such as Hispano Arabic tiles, and explore the connection between abstraction and figuration in urban landscapes that blend reality and imagination. The exhibition traces her career from the 1930s to the 1980s, highlighting her relationship with Art Informel and her experiences in Paris and Rio de Janeiro.
Following the tour, visitors can enjoy a complimentary coffee at the Museum Café.
