A daylong tour led by Alessandra Montalbetti explores two must-see exhibitions dedicated to the human body in art and culture, from the Renaissance to modernity.
During the morning, the tour will explore the exhibition Corpi Moderni: The Making of the Body in Renaissance Venice on view at the Gallerie dell’Accademia. The show, comprising works by Leonardo Da Vinci, Michelangelo, Dürer, and Giorgione, explores the representation of the human body as an expression scientific study, the subject of desire, and a cultural symbol. Three sections examine the discovery of the body through science, representations of the nude, and the body as a cultural construct. During the afternoon, the tour continues at Ca’ Pesaro – international gallery of modern art, where the exhibition Giulio Aristide Sartorio: Poema della Vita Umana presents a decorative cycle that investigates ancient mythology and the various stages of life, love, and death. This is a unique opportunity to explore two exhibitions that examine the body in art, under the expert guidance of Alessandra Montalbetti.
