The Peggy Guggenheim Collection remains closed. The exhibition, Surrealism and Magic: Enchanted Modernity, is postponed to 2022.
In compliance with the latest Decree of the President of the Council of Ministers (DPCM) to contain the spread of Covid-19, the Peggy Guggenheim Collection remains temporarily closed due to the orange status of the Veneto region.
In light of the current situation and in anticipation of the reopening, the museum has decided to postpone the exhibition Surrealism and Magic: Enchanted Modernity, organized by Gražina Subelytė, Exhibition Curator, Peggy Guggenheim Collection, to April 9–September 26, 2022. The exhibition dedicated to the Venetian artist Edmondo Bacci, Edmondo Bacci: Energy and Light, organized by Guest Curator Chiara Bertola, is postponed to spring 2023.
“We will not give up while we forge ahead with our online activities, confident that we will soon be able to reopen Palazzo Venier dei Leoni, initially to residents of Venice and the Veneto region, respecting the social function that the museum must have as an inclusive and democratic place, accessible to all,” says Director Karole P. B. Vail.
The museum continues to communicate with the public through art, with perseverance and passion, and from a distance, inviting everyone to keep their spirit and mind active through a variety of programs. On January 25, the online art history cycle, Art is Life, begins again with Professor Alessandra Montalbetti. Over the course of four lessons, participants will learn about the unusual and fascinating ties that connect art and literature, philosophy, cinema, and fashion. On January 27, the museum will talk about beauty as a vision of the future in a workshop presented on Zoom for educators at all levels. Conceived as a poetic reflection on beauty, intended as a tool for renewal, the workshop will lead participants on an intimate and imaginary journey to create a collective story.
