News from the Peggy Guggenheim Collection

The Peggy Guggenheim Collection is closed to the public from Monday, January 10 reopening Wednesday, January 26, 2000. During this period the museum is carrying out the maintenance of the Museum’s sculpture collections (including those on extended loan from the Raymond and Patsy Nasher Collection in Dallas). Other maintenance works include renovation of lighting and climate control equipment, repainting of the galleries and new fittings for the museum shop. The Venetian style terrazzo floors in the Palazzo’s are also being repaired.

The museum reopens January 26, 2000. with Peggy Guggenheim’s Collection of twentieth century painting and sculpture, the Nasher Sculpture Garden, and “Masterpieces from the Gianni Mattioli Collection,” on extended loan to the museum and displayed in the Palazzo’s barchessa.

The Collection’s forthcoming exhibition is AMAZONS OF THE AVANT-GARDE. Alexandra Exter, Natalia Goncharova, Liubov Popova, Olga Rozanova, Varvara Stepanova, Nadezhda Udaltsova (March 1 – May 28, 2000).

As of March 1, 2000, the Peggy Guggenheim Collection and the Museum Café will extend their opening hours. The Peggy Guggenheim Collection will be open to the public daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Saturday 10 a.m.- 10 p.m., closed Tuesday.
