Incroci/Crossroads each Saturday from June 12 until Juli 31, 8.15 pm
The 2004 season of Incroci/Crossroads starts with the Maurizio Giammarco “Tricycle Trio” on June 12, a concert not to be missed by jazz lovers. These three musicians combine great sensitivity and refined techniques to achieve notably original results. Taking inspiration from Rollins, Coltrane and Coleman, the group has sought and found their own musical identity, playing original compositions and producing improvised creations, in what has become a continuous experiment and game for the trio.
On June 19 the Maurizio Camardi Quartet, featuring special guest David Boato, will present their latest album ‘Lester’. According to this group, music is conceived as a mixture of sounds and cultures where differences and all possible combinations give way to pure energy.
On June 26 the Rosa Emilia Quartet presents their new album ‘Baiana de Guanabara’. On this cd Rosa Emilia sings about the people of Rio de Janeiro through the words of two of its’ greatest poets, Tom Jobim and Chico Barque.
July starts with the warm and expressive voice of the singer from Atlanta, Kay Foster Jackson (July 3). Her voice is pure and dexterous, giving her the possibility to sing and exchange between gospel, blues, soul and jazz, always using it as an instrument to evoke human emotions.
On July 10 we will welcome the Ermanno Maria Signorelli Trio for a concert and presentation of their last album entitled ‘Aqua’, the result of over fifteen years of research. The mood created by classical guitar and electronics is fascinating and evocative of the Mediterranean ‘ambient’.
The great vibraphonist from Zagreb, Boško Petrovi is a concert not to be missed on July 17. During a career that began over fifty years ago and through many collaborations with famous and distinguished musicians, with his instrument Petrovi has given life to what is known today as Balkan jazz. In our concert he plays in a trio, accompanied by guitar and bass.
The music we will hear on July 24 with the Gibellini-Tavolazzi-Beggio Trio can be defined with one word: Swing. This becomes the starting point for rich and intense improvisations both with classical and original music. These three musicians who have been playing together for the past eight years, will give us the opportunity to listen to sessions that we will remember for their fresh inventiveness.
The last concert on July 31 will involve two musicians from Ivano Fossati’s historical group, Armando Corsi and Beppe Quirici. Together they will produce a sound that defies definition and cannot be catalogued as a particular style or genre. Corsi and Quirici work with a melodic theme and method through which allows them to improvise in complete liberty. The best way to understand, is to come and listen!
