The contamination of seemingly remote realities, such as American art of the 20th century, the craft skills of Taiwan’s greatest ceramists, and European design, has produced an ideal synthesis of transversal esthetic precepts. The Travel Mug becomes both functional and beautiful, for those who love to travel and who live the idea of the journey as a multi-cultural experience.
What if the great 20th century avant-gardes that Peggy Guggenheim admired and collected could travel with us wherever we go? The Travel Mug was conceived with this in mind, designed by the Italian design collective Hangar Design Group and created by the Taiwanese brand ACERA.
Dedicated to the 20th century art movements that the American patroness collected, and produced exclusively for the Museum Shops of the Peggy Guggenheim Collection, the Travel Mug is portable, for carrying food or drink, and captures in its elegant and refined form and materials the love of art.
The container’s surface, of enameled ceramic, carries the names of major visual art avant-gardes of the past century in a tight sequence such that the typography transcends pure decoration and defines the sense of the experience.
