The archive is originated alphabetically by author. All materials received at the Museum regarding all artists presented in the Peggy Guggenheim Collection are kept in these files including: call for exhibitions, inauguration ads, brochures of private collections, etc. In part, this archive also consists of important original documents (letters, autographed tickets, etc.) and of important interest (copies of letters, cards and postcards match etc.).
Thanks to a contribution of the Gladys Krieble Delmas Foundation, this archive has been catalogued and is available on the website. The database gathers datarelating to the document each, indexed by subject/topic, and provides links to image files of the document, text files (transcripts of letters, interviews, etc.), and websites related to the document. In addition, the library has recently acquired, thanks to Olivia Rabbaglietti, a small but important collection of documents, known as "Carrain-Rabbaglietti" archive preserves correspondence between some Italian artists (such as Arnaldo Pomodoro, Achille Perilli and Gastone Novelli) and other figures in Italian art of the 1940s and 1950s as recorded by Peggy Guggenheim and her secretary Vittorio Carrain.
The archive preserves in chronological order, all the material received by the museum (invitations, press releases, brochures, correspondence, contacts) for every edition of the Visual Arts and Architecture Biennale of Venice. (Cataloguing for this project is currently in progress)
