David Gallagher

david gallagher David Gallagher is Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Advisory Board of the Peggy Guggenheim Collection.
Born 1944 in Valparaíso, Chile of dual Chile /UK nationality, Mr Gallagher went to the Grange School, in Santiago, and Downside School, in Somerset. From 1968 to 1974 he was lecturer in the Literature of Latin America at Oxford University and Fellow of St. Antony’s College, Oxford. With Morgan Grenfell, from 1974 to 1984,he was in charge of Latin-American business, and director of Morgan Grenfell International.
Since 1984, David Gallagher has been founding Partner and Chairman of ASSET Chile S.A., a Santiago based boutique investment bank covering Latin America. Since 1985, an active member of the Board, and Executive Committee, of the Centro de Estudios Publicos (CEP), regarded as the leading think tank in Latin America. Mr Gallagher serves also on the Board of Cencosud, Chilean retail company with a strong presence in Brazil, Colombia, Peru and Argentina, and on the Board of the Chilean Council of Foreign Relations as well as on the Editorial Board of El Mercurio, Chile’s leading newspaper.
Mr Gallagher joined the Advisory Board in 1998 and has been an ex officio member of the Solomon R. Guggenheim Foundation Board of Trustees since 2012.
