Surrealism at large is here on view, with works by Ernst, Tanguy,
and Brauner. Motherwell signals the evolution towards the New York avant-garde of the 1940s,
which was strongly influenced by Surrealism. The paintings by Dubuffet and Bacon were acquired
by Peggy Guggenheim after she moved to Venice.
