These brass earrings are spiky miniature mobiles. In 1942 Peggy Guggenheim wore one earring by Calder and one by Tanguy at the opening of her West 57th Street museum-gallery, Art of This Century, to demonstrate her equal loyalty to Surrealist and abstract art, examples of which she displayed in separate galleries.
