These German artists, a husband-and-wife-team, made systematic photographic series of old, often industrial, architecture and constructions. These houses are from the Siegen district, where Bernd Becher was born. The image frontality instills it with minimalism and clarity akin to diagrams and engineer’s drawings. The Bechers sought to shed light on the individuality and sculptural qualities of buildings. They, thus, referred to their works as “anonymous sculptures.”
