Concetto spaziale attests Fontana’s Spazialismo, which challenged traditional easel painting by opening it to new dimensions of space and time, emulating the discoveries of science and technology. Fontana manifested this by perforating the canvas with an awl, creating scattered holes. This work evokes a transforming cosmic energy, whether of galactic space or a planetary body.
